Predicting the future of smart phones is not quite tricky. Imagining how the future mobile phone will look like is. It was only 3 decades ago when the thought of carrying around a small, portable device that could allow you to make calls and send short messages seemed to be science fiction. Then in the early 90s, imagining a phone that would enable you to take pictures and browse the Web was simply bizarre.
Going by the current trends in mobile technology, we can make a lot of predictions as to what the Smartphone of the future will be like. Below are some of those predictions;
- Total Integration with Our Daily Products
So what will smart phones look like in 2030 going forward? Based on phone user behavior, I think the future phones will focus more on integrating our normal lives with our digital lives. These gadgets probably will not look like the handsets we are seeing today. They will be fully integrated into other devices and products.
Imagine a ballpoint pen that would allow you to make calls, send short messages, take pictures and perform other sophisticated functions! The thought of such a technology may not sound realistic today just as the current mobile technology seemed to be science fiction back in the 80s.
- Augmented Reality
In the realm of information communication technology, augmented reality also known as “AR” refers to what we perceive through our senses, especially our eyes, enhanced through the use of computer-generated sensory input like video, graphics, sound as well as GPS data. This technology avails more information for users by merging computer data with what they see in real life.
In future, we will be able to get the right information of things such as the nearest hospital, restaurant or fitness facility to where we are, using our smart phone cameras. Pointing the phone to a particular direction is all that it will take to accomplish that.
- Complete Voice Control
The voice control smart phone feature has been receiving much attention lately. This feature is not quite new as it has existed in many older smart phones although in its crudest form. New knowledge has advanced the development of this technology, which is today an important part of our mobile phones.
Voice control will completely replace the keyboards or touch pads on our cell phones. We will be able to totally control our phones through this feature without the need to type in any command. Speaking to your phone is all that it will take to make a call, send a message, take a picture or launch your browser.
- Flexible Screen
The next generation of smart phones will be those with flexible screens. Phones will have screens that can be folded and unfolded, all thanks to Organic Light-Emitting Diode (OLED) technology. With such physical flexibility, the future mobile phones will allow users to watch and play their favorite movies as well as games while maintaining a portable size.
The next generation of smart phones is going to comprise of rare and mind-boggling devices. Manufacturers are going to pay more attention to integration, AR, voice control, and screen flexibility among other things. These devices are expected to be more intelligent, more intuitive and more capable than any computer currently. Have some future smart phone predictions that you would like to share with us?
